Michael R. Stanley is a partner in Demeo LLP who brings 10 years of experience in complex commercial litigation.  He has represented clients in a vast array of business disputes, including representing clients in fiduciary duty-based claims, trade secret disputes, real estate and debt servicing litigation in state and federal courts.  Since 2018, Mr. Stanley has been recognized as a Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Star in Business Litigation.

Most recently, prior to joining Demeo, Mr. Stanley was a Senior Associate in the Business Litigation Group at Sheehan Phinney Bass & Green PA.  There, he was trial counsel for a national logistics company in a WARN Act class action trial in the Southern District of New York, which resulted in judgment for his client. He was also the lead brief writer for matters before the First and Third Circuit Court of Appeals as well as the Massachusetts Appeals Court.

Mr. Stanley began his legal career at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, LLP, after he clerked for the Honorable William G. Young of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. He later moved with his litigation group to K&L Gates, LLP for its Boston-office expansion, joining the firm’s Financial Institutions and Services Litigation Group. At K&L Gates, LLP, Mr. Stanley represented large financial institutions in defending financial servicing litigation brought by consumers and investors.

He received his law degree from Vermont Law School, where he interned at the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and served as Articles Editor of the Vermont Law Review. At the University of New Hampshire, Mr. Stanley earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Conservation.

Mr. Stanley currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Greater New England.
